Kim Jong-un heads home after whirlwind trip to Russia
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un headed home after his week-long Russian trip on September 17, 2023. This extended Russian visit marked Kim’s longest foreign trip since he took power in late 2011. Kim visited several military facilities in Russia’s far eastern region, as well as other education, culture and science facilities. During the trip, Kim received a bulletproof vest and 6 drones from the local governor, as Russian state media reported.
