Roc met Angeli from the USA at Zhang-Wu-Ji Bakery near Chinag-Kai-Shek Memorial Hall for a bite to eat. The place may look understated, but it is the third generation of an old-school Shanghai-style bakery. Its most distinctive feature is the charcoal hearth they use to bake the biscuits with. They make the biscuits every morning from scratch.
Once you step into the place, you can smell the sweet aroma of the dough coming fresh out of the oven.
There are three major stars of this place, HuangQiao shortbread、baked scallion-stuffed sesame biscuits, and sesame shortcakes.
