World’s largest active volcano erupts in Hawaii

Mauna Loa, the world’s largest active volcano, has erupted for the first time in 38 years.
Authorities in Hawaii have warned of falling ash but say lava is not an immediate threat to those living nearby, but the US Geological Service (USGS) has said the situation could change rapidly.
The previous eruption in 1984 sent lava flows within 5 miles of Hilo, the island’s most populated town.
According to the USGS, Mauna Loa has erupted 33 times since 1843.
